Golden Cardinal Scavenger Hunt

  • Did you know that the original mascot for the University of Arkansas was a Cardinal? Although we are Razorbacks today, this history of the Arkansas Cardinals has not been forgotten. To commemorate our history, we’ve hidden a Golden Cardinal on campus.
  • Each day of A-Week, a riddle will be published in the Arkansas Newswire to wear our Golden Cardinal has been hidden. You’ll have five days to try and find our Golden Cardinal before anyone else!
  • The finder of the Golden Cardinal will be able to keep the Golden Cardinal and win a $100 Dining Dollars, $150 worth of Razorback merchandise from the Campus Bookstore, Signed Football by Razorback Football Coach, Sam Pittman, and a Flat Screen TV!

First-Year Reflection Wall

  • All week we’ll have a reflection wall up in the Union for you to add your own hopes, goals, and fears for your first-year of college! You can see how your thoughts compare to your peers – it’s likely that you’re not alone in what you’re nervous about or want to accomplish during your time here on The Hill as a Razorback. Everyday we’ll put up a new prompt, so be sure to stop by daily to participate!

A-Team Meeting #1 (Welcome and Introductions)

Volunteer with the Volunteer Action Center (V.A.C.) @ Botanical Gardens of The Ozarks

  • Come spend time with the VAC and volunteer for a great organization in NWA, the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks. Wear comfy clothes, be willing to get dirty, and wear close-toed shoes.

Student Success Passport Event

  • Students will pick up a student success passport from the CORD that will guide them to different offices important to student success within the CORD building and around campus. In order to get a passport “stamp,” students will engage in an interactive activity at each stop. Completed passports will be exchanged for a Kona Ice and the opportunity to be entered into drawings for prizes!

      Self-Guided Campus History Tour

      • We’re lucky to have such a historic campus, and we are reminded everyday about the legacy of those who have come before us when we look down at Senior Walk. But if you look up and around, you’ll notice that history is everywhere. We’ve developed a self-guided walking tour around the campus to highlight a few of the historic landmarks, buildings, and campus traditions. It’s not a race, it’s a leisurely stroll through campus to stretch your legs and enjoy a little fresh air. You’ll start at the Union Mall at our welcome sign where you’ll get instructions, and then you are free to explore at your own pace. Each stop will contain facts, historical photos, and general university trivia so you can learn more about your home for the next few years.

        Mandatory Floor Meetings

        • This is an opportunity for students to meet one another and to get acclimated to their residence hall while meeting their neighbors. Hall staff, the building Coordinator for Residence Education will be present to meet residents.

        • Location: Each residence hall will outline the location for their in-person floor meeting. Students will be able view a pre-recorded video of the highlights of the floor meeting agenda.

        New Student Pep Rally

        • Who are the Hogs?  We are the Hogs!  Learn this tradition and many more as we go through the University of Arkansas Traditions. The event will feature members of the University of Arkansas Marching Band, Spirit Squad, Mascots and student leaders from across campus.  There will also be a special message from University of Arkansas Athletic coaches.
